Key proposals are on the table with respect to federal income taxation for businesses, individuals, and estates. In this session, Kristine will review the latest federal legislative tax reform proposals, including their potential impacts on Midwest farms and businesses. She will also update attendees on newer laws and guidance in effect for the 2016 and 2017 tax years, including consistent basis reporting requirements and the use of an account transcript as a substitute for an estate tax closing letter.  The session will conclude with a brief update regarding Iowa tax law and the status of coupling legislation.\n \nAbout the Presenter:\n \nKristine Tidgren is the assistant director for the Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation, where she analyzes legal developments impacting producers and practitioners. She writes numerous articles on current ag law issues, teaches an agricultural law class to undergraduate students, and is a frequent speaker on ag and tax law topics.\n \nPrior to joining CALT, she worked as a practicing attorney and as an attorney editor for LexisNexis. Kristine is licensed to practice law in Iowa and Missouri. She graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law and received an undergraduate degree in journalism from Iowa State University. She grew up on a farm in West Central Iowa.\n
