DESCRIPTION:\nCharitable giving can be a meaningful part of estate planning, but clients don't always know where to begin or how to ensure their charitable intentions have a lasting impact. This presentation will introduce the Siouxland Community Foundation and explore how community foundations can help individuals and families incorporate philanthropy into their estate plans. We'll discuss charitable giving options, including donor-advised funds, designated funds, field-of-interest funds, and endowed giving, along with practical examples of how these approaches can support individual charitable goals and strengthen our communities for generations to come. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of SCF's role and how we can work alongside estate planning professionals to help clients turn their charitable intentions into lasting impact.\n \nKatie E. Roberts, CAP® is the Executive Director of the Siouxland Community Foundation, where she works with donors, professional advisors, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to create lasting philanthropic impact throughout Siouxland. She earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation, strengthening her knowledge of charitable planning, legacy giving, and strategies that connect donors' goals with community needs.\n \nKatie brings extensive nonprofit experience to her leadership at the Foundation, having previously served organizations including NorthStar Services, Crittenton Center, Food Bank of Siouxland, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Siouxland Habitat for Humanity. Her experience across a variety of mission-driven organizations gives her a broad perspective on the needs of nonprofits and the role philanthropy can play in building a stronger community.\n \nBeyond her professional work, Katie is committed to serving her community through volunteer and leadership involvement with her church, alma mater, and the schools that are part of her family's life. She and her husband, Bryce, are raising their two sons in Siouxland and enjoy supporting their children's activities and being involved in the community they call home.\n \nThrough her professional leadership and community involvement, Katie is passionate about connecting people who care with causes that matter and helping ensure Siouxland continues to thrive for generations to come.\n
